In the case of the latter, while cleaning solution cannot be used, one is able to put a light amount of water on these types of blinds.

Mini-blinds Made Out of Aluminum

Water and dish soap can do the job for individuals cleaning aluminum mini blinds. However, the towel that is used for cleaning should be lint-free. Also, make sure you are cautious that you don't bend the panels as you are cleaning them. If the panels are extremely dirty, you may want to consider cleaning them individually. All you have to do to remove them is to pull on the tabs located on the end of the blinds. From there they should slide out easily. If they don't slide out, you can try applying a little bit of heat to them through a hair dryer.

Cleaning solution can be used on vinyl mini-blinds, though it's recommended that the whole set of blinds be removed from the window before they are cleaned. As is the case with aluminum mini-blinds, one needs to make sure they don't harm the panels as they are cleaning them. When you are finished, hose down the blinds to make sure all of the cleaner gets removed.

Blinds Made Out of Wood

Wooden blinds can scratch, get warped or become discolored if they are not cleaned properly. Even plain water can damage wooden blinds. For this reason it is best to clean wooden blinds with the same type of wood cleaner you would use on your wood floors or wooden furniture.

Cellular Shades

If you have a set of cellular shades, consider yourself lucky. This is because they tend to not require as much cleaning as other types of blinds. When you do need to clean them, you can vacuum them with a vacuum cleaner attachment or use a damp cloth with water that is lukewarm. You will want to make sure you do not crease the panels when you are cleaning these types of blinds.
